Often hailed the "Queen of British Hip Hop", Estelle is a multiple award winning singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer.
A native of West London, as child, she was heavily influenced by her family's passion for music. Her mother was a massive reggae fan and raised Estelle listening to her records. This genre served as the foundation for a musical taste that develop and foster Estelle's own interest in music. While today, her diverse tastes range from Kanye West, Nas, Jay Z, Redman and Rah Digga to Mos Def, Jill Scott, Common and Teddy Riley, Estelle asserts that her main influences lie firmly with two of the most important female figures in Hip Hop soul - Missy Elliot and Mary J. Blige. "I like female artists who show that women don't have to strip off or compromise themselves to be recognized as musicians. I can match men head to toe."
